America’s Girls
2018 - ongoing
In 2018, Eva began photographing young women in the United States between the ages of six and seventeen, a pivotal period between girlhood and womanhood. Her work revisits the idea of portraiture by exploring past teenage inquisitiveness, intertwining past and present to celebrate self-discovery. Her portraits, capturing loose strands of hair, open buttons, and awkward gestures, embrace uncertainty, imperfection, and contradiction. They simultaneously convey innocence, wisdom, hope, anxiety, tenderness, and fierceness, reminding us of our fragility and offering hope.
